Why I Hate AI Art Being Sold

Ok, don't get me wrong. I really love AI, and I would call myself an AI enthusiast. Midjourney (the most advanced generative tool for 2D artworks) is getting better everyday and that is great.

But now I want you to check something on your phone. Go into Twitter, search for #NFT and scroll a little bit. Now tell me: How many artworks have you seen that were created by humans? Collectables doesn't count. I really have a hard time trying to find real artists on the platform.

Yesterday I found a guy, tweeting the following sentence:

Today's nfts freshly made! Super talented "midjourney" of "ai" created this art according to my wishes. Midjourney is a wonderful painter with a tremendous talent and now changing my life I believe. Creating everyday on Ethereum on Opensea.

Ok, as we can see, that man looks kinda uninformed. It's okay, I'll not be that guy to say "umm actually *nerdface*" and correct him. Maybe. Probably.

The problem lies in the intention of getting money with AI artworks. It just doesn't feel right. Even thought it CAN be sold as art, it SHOULDN'T. "But Stoots, people are willing to pay for AI art!" Yes, and that is fine.

But you know what is NOT FINE? Having to search in between dozens of AI artworks to find ONE drawing made by a human.

AI art can be created quickly, and that is problematic. In a matter of fact, it makes me sick.

Imagine having thousands of people posting thousands of "artworks" per day, and trying to SELL it to you as NFT, thinking that the buyers and collectors are dumb dummies. These people are ruining the enviroment.

For everyone reading this, make art for the sake of it. Stop trying to get money without effort. If you're truly an artist, someday the money will come.

Anyways, I just hope that things will get better. Thank you for reading this. Feel free to contact me.

Best Regards

Stoots :)
